Malta and Sicily Compete Together at CPPS Event 3
Players from Malta and Sicily joined forces as 181 Lo Spazio for Event 3 of the 2025 Central Premier Paintball Series, competing in Division 4 on Saturday 5 July in Penkridge, Staffordshire.
The event was the combined squad’s third and final CPPS appearance of the season, following participation in the opening rounds in March and May. It provided another opportunity to gain tournament experience and strengthen the connection between the Maltese and Sicilian paintball communities.
An opening victory
181 Lo Spazio began the preliminary stage with a close 3 to 2 victory against Nottingham Knights Black.
The remaining matches proved more difficult. The team lost 1 to 3 against Turks, followed by a narrow 1 to 2 defeat against UK Redskins and a 0 to 2 loss against Fusion.
That left the squad with one win from four preliminary matches. The opening victory and competitive game against UK Redskins gave the team positive moments to build on, while the defeats highlighted the work needed to compete more consistently at Division 4 level.
A shared effort between Malta and Sicily
The 181 Lo Spazio squad brought together players from neighbouring islands to compete in the UK tournament scene.
For the Malta-based players, joining the Sicilian squad provided opportunities to gain experience alongside teammates from outside their local community. Playing together required communication, coordination and the ability to adapt as a combined team.
Those experiences are valuable for developing competitive paintball in Malta. Time spent at international tournaments helps players understand the demands of competition and bring practical lessons back into local training.
Closing the 2025 campaign
July marked the end of 181 Lo Spazio’s participation in the 2025 CPPS season. Across Events 1, 2 and 3, the combined squad gained experience against a range of Division 4 opponents and gave players from Malta and Sicily the opportunity to compete together internationally.
Thank you to our Sicilian teammates and everyone who helped make those trips possible. Travelling to compete takes time, preparation and personal commitment, with friends and families also playing an important part in getting players onto the field.
For the Maltese players, these three events contributed to the experience that would support the continued development of Malta Paintball and its future international campaigns.
